| At Lightworks, we
offer the following custom options:
WIDTH AND LENGTH:
We have two standard widths for all multi-arm ceiling fixtures
and wall
sconces. All measurements DO NOT include the size
of glass shades or art glass lantern shades. For shade sizes see
the shade section. For art glass lantern sizes see the specific fixture
or call, fax or e-mail for an exact measurement.
Standard Ceiling Fixture Small Sizes
4-arm: Height 28" Width 18"
3-arm: Height 28" Width 16"
Standard Ceiling Fixture Large Sizes
4-arm: Height 33" Width 22"
3-arm: Height 33" Width 20"
Standard Sconce Sizes
Double Sconces: Height 6 1/2" across or up and down
Width 12" across 4"-6" or width of shade for up and down
Depth 8"
Single Sconces: Height 6 1/2"
Width 4"-6" or width of shade
Depth 6"-8"
Custom Sizes: If our standard width is not exactly what you need, our
ceiling fixtures
and sconces can be customized in whatever width you
desire. There is a
fee of $50.00 for any requested non-standard width
up to three feet. If
you order a non-standard width over three feet, our
fee is $50.00 plus
$10.00 for each foot or portion thereof over three feet.
All light fixtures hanging on a single rod or chain can be varied in
length
from a desired minimum length up to a maximum of a three foot drop.
The drop in this instance is determined by measuring the fixture from
the
point it meets the ceiling to the bottom of the shade holder. A charge
of
$10 per foot or portion thereof for each additional foot will be added
for
any fixture length over three feet. Fixtures using square chain, however,
are charged $15 per foot for additional footage.
Fixtures with multiple rods or chain usually specify the standard length
range on the fixture description page. Any variation from those lengths
will result in a charge of $10 per foot per rod or chain. That means a
fixture hanging from two rods or chains would be $10 x 2 for each
additional
foot, and a fixture with four rods or chains would be $10 x 4
for each
additional foot. Fixtures using square chain, however,
are charged $15
per foot for additional footage.
We are also able to vary the depth of our wall sconces on request.
There
often is no additional charge for increasing or decreasing the
depth of
a wall sconce. Just ask.
FINISHES:
We offer many hand-applied, hand-rubbed finishes at Lightworks and a
painted matte black finish. All our metal finishes are organic and
biodegradeable and continue to patina
and change with time, although
those that are lacquered will hold up for
a longer time in their original
finish. Fixtures without lacquer have
a more aged look and more
variation in tone. Fixtures with lacquer tend
to have a more even finish.
Some of our finishes are more complex and
more expensive to produce,
so an extra fee is added for those finishes.
See the fixture descriptions for
price breakdowns by finish. Samples of
finishes are available on request.
Our finishes include:
Antique Bronze:
Enlarged photo
This finish provides a very authentic looking antique coloring.
It is
a dark brown finish, unlacquered, with obvious variations
in overall
tone. It continues to change with time and has
an
overall mottled appearance.
Bronze:
Enlarged photo
This finish is dark brown in color and always comes with an
applied
satin matte lacquer. It has a uniform dark brown color.
Dark bronze:

Enlarged photo
This finish is darker brown (almost black) in color and comes
with an applied satin matte lacquer and paint overspray. It has
a unform very dark brown color.
Bronze with highlights:
Enlarged photo
This finish is a Lightworks exclusive. This is a bronze finish with
an applied satin lacquer. Raised portions are then hand-rubbed
to expose the natural brass below. This finish also works well on
mission fixtures where the edges of the square pieces are hand-rubbed
for a sharp looking effect. For a sample of this, see our Wexler sconce.
Dark bronze with highlights:
Enlarged photo
Another lightworks exclusive, this finish is a very dark brown
(almost black) finish with an applied satin lacquer and paint overlay.
Like our bronze with highlights finish, raised portions are hand-rubbed
to expose the natural brass below.
Antique brass:
Enlarged photo
A slightly lighter brown finish than bronze, this finish has an
applied
satin matte lacquer and is basically a uniform color.
Natural brass (smooth finish - lacquered):
Enlarged photo
The lacquered version of our natural brass finish is nice and
uniform and has a mellow gold color.
Natural brass (mottled finish - unlacquered):

Enlarged photo
The unlacquered version of our natural brass finish is a
non-uniform finish that mimics the aging process of brass
and will continue to change with time. For another sample
of how this finish has aged over time, see the Suzanne Model sconce.
Old Brass

Enlarged photo
This brass finish has a mellow gold and brown tone and
has light mottling.
Gold Tint:
Enlarged photo
This finish is similar to a lacquered natural brass finish but
has a brigher gold (gilded) finish. A gold tint lacquer is used
to get the look of bright gilding.
Burnished brass:
Enlarged photo
Bronze and mellow gold (natural brass) in color, this
finish comes with
a satin matte lacquer and has obvious
variations in tone. Basically, a bronze finish is applied and
then hand brushed to get a burnished effect.
Polished brass:
Enlarged photo
This is a bright brass hand-polished finish. It is available
with or without a gloss lacquer. A gloss lacquer will keep
the polished brass uniform in color
and tone. Unlacquered
polished brass will patina over time.
Brushed nickel gloss - hand-rubbed:
Enlarged photo
This is a hand-rubbed nickel finish (there's actually silver in this finish)
with a gloss lacquer. This is a smooth finish and is well suited
for bathrooms and kitchens and matches the hue of stainless
steel appliances.
Brushed nickel satin - hand-rubbed:
Enlarged photo
This is also a hand-rubbed nickel finish, but the finish is satin
and has a more antiqued look. The finish has a smooth surface
texture but may take on slight mottling with time.
Antique brushed nickel - hand-rubbed:
Enlarged photo
This is a hand-rubbed brushed nickel finish with a small amount
of satin lacquer. It is very mottled, so as to produce a very
antiqued look.
Polished nickel - hand-rubbed:

Enlarged photo
Another hand-rubbed finish from Lightworks, this finish has a
gloss lacquer and is uniform in color and tone. It is less glossy
than a plated polished nickel finish (see below), but as with most
of our finishes, it is more environmentally friendly than a plated
finish (to both human and planet). Common to most polished nickel
finishes, it has a bit of a gold hue.
Polished Nickel - Plated:

Enlarged photo
This polished nickel finish is a high gloss plated finish. It is
not hand-rubbed. As with most polished nickel finishes, it
has a bit of a gold hue.
Antique polished nickel - hand-rubbed:

This polished nickel finish has a dark silver tone and obvious
variations in the finish. It is used on fixtures where an antiqued
look is desired.
Polished Chrome:

Enlarged photo
This is a plated polished chrome. The high gloss is plated,
not hand-rubbed. As with most plated chrome finishes, it
has a bit of a blue hue.
Black Matte:

Enlarged photo
This is a painted black finish sealed with a matte lacquer.
Antique red-brown - hand-rubbed:
Enlarged photo
A rustic finish with red and brown tones, this finish has obvious
variations
in tone and surface texture. This is an unlacquered
finish that will continue to patina.
Verde:

This finish is meant to mimic copper that has taken on a
greenish hue
over time. The finish is a green/blue color
over a dark bronze finish.
Satin matte lacquer is applied
to this finish. The finish has obvious
variations in overall tone.
Pewter - hand-rubbed:

Enlarged photo
A specialty finish, pewter is charcoal gray in color with a
semi-matte finish and has a uniform gray color and tone.
It is not available on all models, so if you're interested in
this finish, please ask.
Polished copper - hand-rubbed:

Enlarged photo
Another specialty finish, this finish is available only on
certain fixtures
and on special request. Prices for this finish
vary from fixture to
fixture. Polished copper is a bright copper
finish with a gloss lacquer
applied and has a uniform copper
tone. It is also available unlacquered and will eventually patina
to a dark brown.
Other specialty finishes:
At Lightworks, we can customize a finish for you if you supply us with
a sample. The fee for these finishes depends on the finish you request
and the fixture to which you need it applied.
SWITCHES AND SWITCHABLE SOCKETS:
Unless otherwise specified, all light fixtures come with non-switch sockets.
However, we can add turn-key or pull-chain sockets to most ceiling fixtures
and wall sconces. If you prefer, we can add a rotary, turn-knob, or dimmer
switch to most of our ceiling fixtures and sconces. Switch sockets and
fixture
switches are $10 each and $20 for each dimmer switch.
For an example of a turn-key socket see The Aurora.
For an example of a pull-chain socket see The Sundance.
VAULTED CEILINGS:
For an additional $25.00, we can adapt most of our ceiling fixtures
to
mount on a vaulted ceiling.
SPECIALTY ROD OR CHAIN:
In addition to plain, round tube, we offer round tube which is
embossed,
reeded, or twisted tube which can be used on many of our ceiling
fixtures
and sconces. Round and square tube also comes in various width
sizes. Talk
to us about the various options available in rod and chain
to further customize
your fixture from Lightworks. We’ll quote you
a price based on the amount
and the type of rod or chain you request.
For an example of reeded tube see The Kissner (3/4" tube) or The Shuster (3/8" tube)
For an example of twisted tube see The Dayton (3/4" tube) or The Koehler (3/8" tube)
For an example of embossed tube see Embossed Tube (3/4" tube).
OTHER CUSTOM FEATURES:
By now, you may have realized that at Lightworks we encourage you to customize
your own fixture so that it will be just the way you want it to be. Don’t
be afraid
to ask if we can combine the style of two or more fixtures,
change a shade holder,
or substitute a different ceiling canopy. If you’re
really feeling adventurous, design
your own fixture or bring in or send
us a picture. Of our current models, over half
were produced this way.
If you do design a fixture, we will happily place it in our
catalog and
name it after you or let you choose whatever name you want for the
fixture.
